In an effort to earn some spending money Juli and Ben decided to paint the historic landmark shed we have on the property. It was a cool day (50's) but waiting means painting while dodging the carpenter bees that inhabit the shed. Once they come out there is no going near the shed for weeks as the busy insects gather food. We found that there were several wasp nests so I had to spray the wasps and painting was temporarily halted. After the wasps were killed the kids finished painting the outer walls and doors.
Just this week Ben and I discovered the riding lawnmower we own was rusted from being stored outside in the weather. Our solution was to cut out the old shed main door and frame/hang a double door entry wide enough to drive the mower into. It reminds me very much of the little red shed in New Hampshire next to the home where my Dad lives. What with the dirt floor, gas cans and bits of stuff stored in the rafters. With the raised panel doors it looks quite respectable now. Good work Kids!
