Chef Ben!   What are you cooking today?

The other day Ben was hungry.  I know so what else is new? While looking through a cookbook on Mediterranean  food  he found some great ideas. Though he admitted he was more hungry after looking at all the pictures of desserts, they did provide the inspiration for these amazing iced oranges.
He arranged to get the ingredients with me at the store and then  set Juli and Stevie up helping him make them. I stayed out of the way and the kids made these very complicated and highly delicious treats all on their own. They learned teamwork, how to follow directions and then with a little nudge from me how to clean up your kitchen :)

I am so proud of Ben. He is changing from a boy to a man before our eyes on a daily basis. He is level headed, courageous and a fiercely loyal friend. There is a quick dry whit mixed with a warm heart, a hint of joker and dash of just plain fair play. I get up these days excited to see what has changed while we were sleeping. I have heard that teens can be a challenge. But, I am begining to see the opportunity side to this chaos. It sure is good to be an at home Dad!
