About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

The Lady Patty

This is the Lady Patty. We met the original owner Mark here at the marina a few weeks back. He told us of how he had rescued her from the scrap heap and restored the "Patty" as he affectionaely called the boat. Her new owner is a friend of the Omarsea's crew. Jeff sails her on sunset charters out on the bay from Knapps Narrows marina where we are now staying. He tells all the passengers about our work on the boat and how we are "Sailing for New Zealand". They wave eagerly as they pass and some even take pictures. It looks like real fun and I hope to take a spin on her before we leave.
