Home school aboard the Omarsea. After a few weeks of being offshore we threw ourselves into our classwork with great relish. Geometry is nearly completed and Ben takes his final exam this Friday.  The kids are delving into Oceanography, History, world events and global trends that effect our every day lives. They are writing several reports every week and we should be seeing more of their efforts here on the blog site.
We are beginning to read aloud to the family more now. Steve is reading a series of stories to Juli tonight. He is becoming very good at it. I am reading the Percy Jackson series to the kids an hour at a time. It provides us with a family activity we can share together that is not a movie or a recorded book on cd. I have found I really enjoy reading to them and look forward to doing so.  We often diverge during our reading starting conversations about classic Greek and Roman history and mythology. Lively discussions often ensue and it can be several minutes before we get back to the story.
