About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

Great News!!!!

As Steve and i were taking a walk around the marina yesterday we ran into our agent Eric Galvez. He asked me if I had recieved his email update? I had not as yet recieved it. He then mentioned that we had been bumped up from the 14th to the 9th of February. So we will be transiting the canal  a week from today. The process seems to be that we anchor outside the mouth of the canal at 1pm and await our pilot. Once onboard we proceed to the first lock. The locks have webcams on them so you should be able to see us go through along with two other sailboats. I don't know about the kids but I am pretty fired up about going through the canal.I will update the site as next Saturday gets closer with any changes that may occur.  Fair Winds
