About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

Mindstorms

While visiting Uncle Mike and Aunt Jeannie last weekend Ben found out that they had Lego Mindstorms. He has always wanted to program the lego robots. His cousins David and Alex have lots of experience with mindstorms working with their father Charles.
Ben after spending a morning modifing the robot was successful in getting his laptop computer to talk with the robot via bluetooth wireless. He was then able to download commands remotely to it and program the small automaton to fetch a plstic ball.
The temporary loan of the Mindstorm was courtesy of our good friends Mike and Jeannie Raddatz who hope to get Ben and their grandson Nick together and working on this kind of project. Photo courtesy of the Lego Mindstorm Website. http://www.legomindstorm.com
