About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

New Years resolutions


It was just five years ago we went sailing with friends out of Newport Oregon and took this pic of Ben at the wheel. After the busy week we just had I can see where the time can go so quickly.
I have resolved this year to slow down the pace a bit and spend more time with these special gifts God has given us. If we are to be captain of our own fate then I want to see the course ahead and know that despite the weather and seas we faced I stopped at all the right islands along the way. God speed to you on your voyages ahead this year.

    I can't believe Ben is so young there. He has grown into a handsome young man. Such a cutie in this picture. (Sorry Ben, hope you don't groan at that.)
