About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

Omarsea Crew update Nov 2010

As winter begins to tighten her icy grip on Maryand the Tref's are finding indoor activities to keep us busy. Jean is in the process of making these great curtains for the house. Julianna is catching new reptiles to add to her zoo. Stephen has taken up chess in a serious way and joined a chess club that meets once a week. Benjamin has rejoined the Boy Scouts and is really excited about the time with new friends. Last night he pitched a tent in the backyard and slept out there all by himself. But it will be his last camping for the season as the rains have set in and we will need to hang the tent in the basement to dry today. I have my usual projects underway. The house still needs loads of finishing. I am re-cutting the old sails for a better fit this winter. The Motor is ready to install in the boat. I am just waiting on the boatyard to open enough space for the crane to be able to fit netx to the Omarsea. Our homeschool is in full swing. The kids are studying ancient Rome and the 300 years following the birth of Jesus. That combined with French, writting and Algebra II are keeping their minds busy. As the holidays approach we look forward to getting together with Family and friends. Happy thanksgiving to all.
