About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

Merry Christmas

We have had a very merry Christmas this year and we hope you have as well. Benjamin, Julianna and Stevie could hardly sleep the three days leading up to Christmas eve. We seemed to be swept up in a tide of activity. Shopping became a daily event gathering all the little things a family needs when Christmas approaches. The weatherman called for snow. But we only received flurries on Saturday. We might see more tonight as there is a winter storm advisory in effect till morning.Jean and I have both been quite tired in the evenings this past week. We have many things going on beside the Holidays. She is going to be acting director for her office this Monday and Tuesday. I am continuing major household renovation projects here at the house. On top of that we are considering the purchase of a place in Virginia as an investment. It's close to the ocean and would be a great summer home especially for the kids. It would sure be nice to spend time near the salt water again. And it is a great place to have company come and stay. Until the summer we have much to do and even more to look forward to. Clara, Mary and Margaret Halvorson are coming in the spring to see us! We can't wait. Jean's Mom and sisters are Superfantastic!

All the Best to you
