About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

When Beavers fly

The other day we were in the back yard BBQ-ing dinner. Hearing a plane over the house I looked skyward and saw a De Havilland Beaver coming over at about 1500ft. The pilot banked sharply and circled the house. A good afternoon for flying I didn't think much about it. Jean and I waved as the plane passed overhead.  Then the plane banked sharply again and circled the yard three times. Now he had my attention. I watched the plane with interest wondering why the strange behavior. Then it dawned on me why it might be circling. Benjamin recieved a set of lazer tag guns for Christmas. This week we set up a lazer tag combat course in the back yard. The 4x4 sheets of plywood proped up with sticks were spead out over a 1/2 acre. It must have been quite a sight from the cockpit of the plane flying over. I am told we are under the flight path of Marine One on it's way to camp David from the white house. I suspect someone was making sure we we on the up and up. But  still, here we are getting ready for Ben's birthday party and his Lazer Tag with his friends. I asked him to take the plywood shields down until his Birthday party lest we attrack the wrath of higher powers. One never knows these days. Anyway the boys will have a great time as we found Ben 2 more infrared lazer tag guns and now four of them can play together.
