About the Omarsea Crew
We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

Not so Rare Bird Alert - Robin Rescue
This little guy caused quite the excitement here at the house. Juli and Stevie found him on the lawn chirping for all he was worth. To her credit, Juli did not ask to keep him. But rather, she placed him here in this shrub and then went online to find out more details about baby robins. What she quickly discovered was that they often wind up on the ground after their first flight attempt. The parents stay close by and should the baby not fly for a few days they will continue to feed it until it grows strong enough to fly. This guy could fly eight to ten feet horizontally. But being so well fed he was having trouble gaining altitude. Juli kept a close eye on the bird that afternoon and the next day we found it had flown away. Interestingly enough, on or about the same day the chicks of a family of Carolina wrens raised in our bird house, also flew the coop. This good timing allowed Juli and Ben to finish painting the shed where the bird house hangs and get paid for their efforts begun several months previously.
