"It's Snowing!" shouted Stevie this morning around 7am. Sure enough the weather people were spot on about this cold front/AKA Nor' easter blowing in last night. We have a dusting right now but the wind is picking up and they are sanding the streets against possible ice. Jean and I are contemplating a walk up to the nearby RedBox for a movie. She has been working on her NRC review this morning and baking a cake for desert. I have been rebuilding my laptop PC this morning. All the while contemplating the ease of use of the Apple Ipad II. I have read a couple of articles in Sail Magazine about the Apples and navigation. Next year I will most likely be getting one for our sailing trip South. As for our wonderful Kido's. Well let me tell you I have heard hardly a peep. With the exception of Ben who just appeared asking what was cooking in the kitchen. He is now in overdrive with his growth spurt. He should be overtaking me in height in the spring. Juli and Stevie are playing video games on their computers. And I am happy to report the snow is just getting thicker as I write this. I am glad for the break in routine. Homeschool has been very demanding the past month. We are covering a lot of ground. Jean stepped in yesterday and gave the kids an introduction to Project Management. She just took a class in Bethesda, MD and wanted to share the basics with the kids as a way to lock it all into her memory. Her class gave me a chance to pretty much finish the 120+ welds on our Solar arch for the Omarsea.
Next spring I will be installing solar panels that will make the boat independent of fossil fuels with the exception of having to motor when there is no wind or coming into port. How's that for going green?
We will be gradually moving our focus back to sailing over the next couple of years with the kids and I spending more time aboard, homeschooling and gradually moving Westward. As always if you are interested in joining us on any of the Ocean legs please email me via the website.
