About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

Work on the house continues

Since we bought the house we have spent most of our time inside working to make it more comfortable. Last fall we were able to spend a couple weeks beginning to reside the house and add some touches to the exterior we wanted. Here it is just after putting down some mulch around the perimeter with the field stone foundation newly tipped and painted.  With the housing values still in decline we are being careful not to do too much to this old house and price it out of the market someday.  It has been great to be outdoors and have dinner on the front porch so often this spring. We were driven off the porch last year by gnats. They can form great swarms in the yard and make it impossible to spend nearly any time outside. But we found that the Tiki torches with citronella oil work fairly well and I have a half dozen of these at the ready should the gnats arrive. This photo was taken just prior to the leaves on the trees coming out.

Well, my writing time is up and I have to turn in my keyboard in for a paintbrush now. Have a great day everyone.

Scott
