About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

Upcoming boat events

This week the kids and I will be putting the transmission back into the boat. We are also going to paint the rowing dinghy and the boot stripe on the hull.
Next week we are going to pull the mast in order to replace the wire rigging. It's too old to trust offshore and this is a great boatyard to do this type of work in.
The week after that we install the refrigeration, the galley island and get the boat ready to house us once again. There are a million things to do. We will be living aboard at the yard until the boat has completed her series of sea trials and is ready to sail to the South Pacific.

  1. Cleaning up the boat with the kids is like bonding with them too. An effort to rebuild your boat with the family is a priceless event.
