About the Omarsea Crew

We are the Trefethens. After 10 years of planning we decided to sell our home and buy a sailboat. In November 2007 we departed Portland Oregon for the Virgin Islands and our 50 foot sloop the OMARSEA. Our three children Ben, Juli and Steve are enjoying the benefits of being homeschooled. Join us on our continuing adventures as we explore the East coast of America on the way to New Zealand.

Ships Life On Board The Sailing Vessel Omarsea

The rubber dinghy pull's up beside the Omarsea and I grab on to the toe rail. The boat come's to a sudden stop and every body get's ready to jump off.  Yep, that's what it's been like for the past few weeks. I am Able Body Seaman Steve. The job is some what entertaining for the most part . I pump up the dinghy  with air when it needs inflating. I tie it securely to the Omarsea when we come home or to the dock when we visit shore. If it rains I bail out the rainwater. Some time's if it's just Dad and I,  I get to drive the dinghy. But, most of the time I just tie it up and lock it  for safety. The job is good because it allows me to perform a role that build leadership hour's for star rank in Scouts. For the past 17 day's I have lived this life and I feel like I am needed. It feels really good to have a position on-board that is all mine. well it's time to shove off the S.S Omarsea! Fair Winds and following sea's Mates.
