This week Jean picked up a copy of the Norfolk Public Library Monthly newsletter. It was filled with celebrations. Pages on pages of color photos showing excited people doing exciting things. Among them I noticed the National "I'm a Female Month", the National "My Tan is different than your tan" Month and National "Beanie baby" month. However as I carefully reviewed their calendar of events I noticed there was no National Joe Average White Guy Month? Then it occured to me. If we are going to be celebrating mediocrity then we average white fellas need to get in on the action. So I am hereby declaring July to be National Average White Guys Month. I mean after all we are in good company what with Archie Bunker and Homer Simpson blazing the path for the rest of us.
So all you average white men out there need to get ready. We can do all the things we do best. We can grow extra facial hair. We can buy a little bit better beer for our BBQ's. Hey we can get "T" shirts that declare just how average we really are! We can all get together and go see baseball games. Then we could out do ourselves by going out of our way to be extra nice to all the other groups during "Our Month". Why we could help little old ladies across the streets. We could hold doors open for all the nations females. We can be that good neighbor we always say we are going to be to they guy next door with the different tan. We could even adopt a beanie baby. Lets make this July something to remember!
